The Marietta Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit (STEP) is currently investigating what appears to be a hit and run fatal pedestrian crash which occurred on approximately 10:30pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2013. Marietta Officers were dispatched to a person down in the middle of the northbound lanes of I-75 at Delk Road. Upon arrival officers found a deceased male who appeared to be in his early 20’s. The initial on scene investigation revealed that the victim’s injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle, but investigators are currently working with the medical examiner’s office to determine a cause of death. No witnesses have come forward at this time and no suspect information is known. Investigators are currently trying to positively identify the victim and then notify family members.
