Advisory

Recent forecast states that worst part of storm yet to come. We have re-posted the complete list of preparation tips

To help ensure your safety during this storm please look over these preparedness tips and make sure you have everything you need.
-Stay off the roads especially if they are icy. All wheel drive and 4 wheel drive vehicles do not operate well on icy roads. If you don't have to be out then stay home. This will allow the sand trucks and first responders better access to treat roads and respond to emergencies.
-Make sure you have enough food for a few days. Being iced or snowed in is not the time to find out you are out or very low on food and water.
-Have extra batteries and candles on hand for lighting in case of a power outage.
-If you are using a generator during a power outage make sure the generator is outside so poisonous fumes do not fill up your home.
-Have a battery operated radio on hand to listen for emergency broadcasts and weather updates.
-Make sure all cell phones remain fully charged and only use them when you need them in case you are unable to recharge them.
-Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle with a sleeping bag or blankets, food and water in case you get stranded on the road.
-Make sure your car has a full tank of gas.
-If you have a fireplace at home, prep it now with dry wood and keep all extra wood in a dry place. Have it ready to go in case of power failure to help keep you and your family warm.
-Use ICE/rock salt or kitty litter around your sidewalks and driveway to help prevent falls.
-Be sure to check up on elderly or disabled neighbors and relatives during the storm to ensure they are staying warm and safe.
-Make sure you protect and shelter any out door pets and bring them inside out of the weather.
-Make sure any space heaters used in your home is approved for indoor use. DO NOT use outdoor rated propane space heaters inside your home. Keep space heaters away from carpet, furniture or anything flammable.
-Be aware of the possibility of freezing pipes. Leave water dripping and cabinet doors open below sinks so warm air can reach the pipes.
