A local man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly trying to obtain pills using a forged prescription at an area grocery store.
Rodney Edmondson, 30, who lists an address of 212 Boaz St., was taken into custody shortly after 1:30 p.m. at Harp’s Grocery, 5536 Central Ave., and charged with criminal attempt to obtain a controlled substance by fraud, a felony punishable by up to six years in prison.
He remained in custody Thursday in lieu of $2,500 bond and is set to appear Feb. 18 in district court.
According to reports, GCSD Deputy Phil Fisher and Sgt. David Martineau were dispatched to Harp’s after the pharmacist, 30, reported a male calling in a prescription for a Rodney Woods for 10 hydrocodone and 30 amoxicillin which was believed to be a forgery.
The man was supposed to come pick up the pills in about 25 minutes and was approached by the deputies as he was in the drive-thru at the store picking them up. The suspect, identified as Edmondson, was taken into custody without incident.
