Gibson County Sheriff's Deputies receive life saving tools and training on February 6th.

On February 6, 2014 at 4 P.M. The Deputies of the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office gathered together for training. During this training Deputy Roger Ballard issued each officer a small nylon bag that contained first aid items to be used in a serious trauma situation. Deputy Ballard went through each item in the bag instructing Deputies how they should be used. The first item shown to deputies was a Combat Action Tourniquet. Deputy Ballard stated that Deputies could use this on themselves if they became the victim of a shooting or a serious traffic accident. Deputy Ballard stated that people could bleed out and die within two and half minutes of a serious incident. He went on to share that the average time most emergency service personnel show up in is within five minutes. Deputy Ballard showed Officers how the Combat Tourniquet could be applied with just one hand, and could potentially save their lives.

Also included in the nylon training bag were Quick Clot Dressings that could be applied to large open wounds and Emergency compression bandages that could be used as pressure dressings of a serious wound to an extremity instead of using a tourniquet.
