Public notification re: release of Inmate Michael Pigney. His sexual contact with a child sentence expires Feb. 7 so he must be released. 
Corrections Secretary Denny Kaemingk is providing notification to law enforcement and the public about the pending release of a state prison inmate.
Inmate Michael Pigney, age 51, was sentenced to 15 years out of Davison County for sexual contact with a child.
Pursuant to Pigney’s judgment of conviction, his sentence expires and he must be released from prison on Feb. 7, 2014.
“The inmate has a history of sex offenses against children,” said Secretary Kaemingk. “Based on his criminal history, he presents a continued risk to the community. I believe it to be prudent to alert law enforcement and the public of this pending release from prison.”
Pigney has indicated he plans to live in Rapid City upon his release.
The specific notification is in addition to the letters currently sent to law enforcement and notices provided to the Division of Criminal Investigation each month.
