WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 5 PM MST SUNDAY,

THE WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW,BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW IS NOW IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 5 PM MST SUNDAY.

* TIMING: A SIGNIFICANT WINTER STORM BEGINS TONIGHT AND LASTS THROUGH SUNDAY.

* SNOWFALL AMOUNTS,1 TO 2 FEET IS LIKELY IN THE VALLEY COMMUNITIES. 2 TO 4 FEET OF SNOW IS LIKELY IN THE MOUNTAINS. AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW IS LIKELY. THERE WILL BE OCCASIONAL LULLS IN SNOWFALL BUT ANY BREAKS WILL LAST ONLY A FEW HOURS.

* WINDS,15 TO 30 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS. THE STRONGEST WINDS WILL BE FRIDAY THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING,AND AGAIN SATURDAY THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT.

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE MALAD, OAKLEY, CONNOR SUMMIT, SWEETZER SUMMIT, MALAD SUMMIT, LAVA HOT SPRINGS, SODA SPRINGS, MCCAMMON, FISH CREEK SUMMIT, SWAN VALLEY, PRESTON, MONTPELIER, GEORGETOWN SUMMIT AND THE BEAR LAKE AREA.

* IMPACTS,THE COMBINATION OF SNOW AND WIND WILL CREATE VERY HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS AT TIMES ESPECIALLY AT MID AND UPPER SLOPES. TRAVELLING INTO THE BACK COUNTRY IS NOT ADVISED ESPECIALLY IF ALONE. EXPECT DELAYS AND ROAD CLOSURES.

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW, SLEET,AND ICE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.
