Suspect who led deputies on eight-hour manhunt faces two additional felony charges

A man who led authorities on a day-long manhunt on Tuesday, Jan. 21 is now facing additional charges.
Detective Billie Brown of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office originally charged David Richard Cable, 36, of Wildlife Road in Nebo, with one felony count each of breaking and entering, larceny of a motor vehicle and larceny after breaking and entering.
Brown filed additional charges of felony larceny of a motor vehicle and felony possession of a firearm by a felon on Jan. 29.
On Jan. 21, officers responded to Mount Pleasant Church Road in reference to a wrecked dump truck, owned by GEM Constructors, which had been stolen from an open field beside Soapy Suds Car Wash on Rutherford Road.
From Mount Pleasant Church Road, Cable fled on foot and an eight-hour manhunt ensued before the suspect was apprehended that afternoon.
During further investigation, Brown said she linked Cable to two other stolen vehicles.
Jonathan Newton, of Walnut Grove Road in Nebo, reported on Jan. 20 that someone stole a Ford F650 flatbed truck from his property, along with eight rifles, two crossbows and his dog.
Found in the field beside of Soapy Suds was a $40,000 Road Boss crash truck reported stolen on Jan. 21 from Maymead Inc., of Mountain City, Tenn.
Brown said Cable allegedly stole the crash truck from the side of the U.S. 221 bypass, drove it to the field on Rutherford Road, left it and took the GEM dump truck.
