There has been a recent increase in residential burglaries in District 2; click on the link for more info

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY INCREASE:

There is an increase in daytime residential burglaries in District 2. Suspects enter through a window in the victim’s residence when the victims are not home.

SUSPECT’S ACTIONS:
Unknown suspects have been targeting residences by removing the window screen (when one is in place) and opening windows to the residence. Often times, these windows are left unlocked. Suspects enter and remove items from location. Items stolen include jewelry, electronics and currency. In order to deter these crimes, it is recommended that you lock and secure all doors and windows to your residence. If you see anyone or anything that is suspicious please call 911.

DISTRACTION BURGLARIES:

In the last 14 days, 2 distraction burglaries have occurred in District 1 and 2. Targeted victims have been the elderly. They have occurred between the daytime hours of 3:00-4:00pm.

SUSPECT’S ACTIONS:
Suspect knocks on the front door posing as a gardener, manual laborer, employee of the gas or electric company, ect. The suspect asks the victim for access to the backyard. While the first suspect is distracting the victim, the second suspect makes entry into the location and removes items from the residence.
