Wanted man (Matthew Branch) turns himself in; charged with two felonies and a misdemeanor

A man wanted by McDowell County Sheriff’s Office investigators turned himself in to authorities Monday night.
Detectives Billie Brown and Nathan Mace were searching for 29-year-old Matthew Dwight Branch, of Abeefarm Street in Morganton, for one count each of felony possession of stolen goods, felony larceny and misdemeanor injury to personal property.
After seeing that he was wanted, Branch turned himself in at the Sheriff’s Office Monday and was arrested at 11 p.m.
On Jan. 10, Andrea Arrowood, of Marion, reported that someone stole her 2007 Dodge Magnum from a home on Mudcut Road.
Brown’s investigation led to Branch and a second suspect, who was also charged.
In a separate case, Mace charged Branch with stealing a truck and a weed trimmer from John Fleming, of Marion.
Mace said, in October, Fleming allowed Branch to borrow his 1984 Datsun pickup with the understanding that Branch would return it a couple of hours later.
On Jan. 17, Fleming filed a report that the truck was never returned.
