A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect through 5 PM this afternoon for all of New Jersey. Hazardous snow conditions and icing is expected. Snow accumulation will range from 4 to 8 inches for the state. The snow could fall at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour at the height of the storm.

IMPACT: High impact expected by the middle or end of the morning commute with widespread hazardous conditions. The snow will be wet and heavy which could lead to some power outages. Any standing water or slush will freeze solid tonight. Due caution should be exercised while traveling on roadways effected by snow accumulation.

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON.

* HAZARD TYPES: SNOW. HEAVY FOR A TIME THROUGH THIS MORNING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 4 TO 8 INCHES.

* TIMING: THE CHANGE TO SNOW IN PENNSYLVANIA AND CENTRAL NEW JERSEY WILL RAPIDLY OCCUR ACROSS THE REST OF THE WARNING AREA BY 8 AM THIS MORNING. THE SNOW COULD FALL AT A RATE OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR DURING THE HEIGHT OF THE STORM. THE SNOW THEN QUICKLY TAPERS TO FLURRIES DURING THE MID AFTERNOON.

* TEMPERATURES: IN THE LOWER TO MID 30S TODAY...THEN DROPPING INTO THE 20S AND TEENS TONIGHT.

* WINDS: NORTHEAST AROUND 10 MPH.

* VISIBILITY: ONE HALF MILE OR LESS AT TIMES.

* IMPACTS: HIGH IMPACT EXPECTED BY THE MIDDLE OF THE MORNING COMMUTE WITH HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS. VERY POOR DRIVING CONDITIONS WILL EXIST DURING BURSTS OF HEAVIER SNOW. THE HEAVY, WET SNOW COULD TAKE DOWN WEAK TREE LIMBS AND CAUSE SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES. ANY STANDING WATER OR SLUSH WILL FREEZE SOLID TONIGHT.
