Exercise Extreme Caution When Traveling/School Closings

(Etowah County, Alabama) The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has issued an advisory for all roads in Etowah County.

According to www.dot.state.al.us, the advisory states that citizens should exercise extreme caution when traveling all U.S. and State routes in Etowah County. The website encourages drivers to watch for ice on roadways and bridges while ALDOT crews are working to improve conditions.

“Icy spots can still be found on all major thoroughfares in Etowah County,” says Sheriff Todd Entrekin. “County and secondary roads are impassible. If you must travel today, please drive slowly with extreme caution.”

The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office and County Courthouse are open today.

The Etowah County Judicial Building will open at 12:30 p.m. today. All jurors who were to report for jury duty this week have been dismissed.

**All Etowah County Schools will be closed on Friday, January 31.
