Volunteers canvass areas hit by recent burglaries to bring awareness to community

The Torrance Police Department’s Community Affairs Division teamed up with our Department Volunteers, Torrance CERT, Torrance TARA, and Torrance ADT to bring awareness and educate the community on recent residential burglary activity.

On Saturday, January 25th 2014, approximately 65 volunteers, went door to door in the Northeast portion of the city of Torrance.  During a span of two hours the volunteers reached out to 522 residences and covered approximately 50 neighborhood blocks.

The purpose of this operation, “Operation Lookout”,  was to hand out flyers regarding our “See, Something, Say Something” campaign, Neighborhood Watch, and information regarding the recent burglaries that have happened in that area.  The goal of the Community Affairs Division’s is to attempt to contact each residence in the City of Torrance.
