Especially on potentially hazardous weather days such as Tuesday, Jan. 28, the Harris County Sheriff's Office urges uninjured drivers and passengers whose vehicles can still be operated to exchange driver's license and insurance information and file a report later with the HCSO, if necessary.

Collisions in which people are injured and/or a vehicle blocks a roadway, and cannot be driven, require a call to 911. The same applies to accidents in which a driver lacks a driver's license or insurance.

Sheriff's deputies will respond to all 911 calls involving traffic accidents. But limiting the number of 911 calls to emergency situations will lessen hazards for the public and your crimefighters, and allow them to devote time to life-threatening situations.

Also, deputies called to an accident scene without injury or roadway blockage on Tuesday will issue forms for motorists to file later. The forms include instructions on where to mail the documents.

HCSO patrol commanders are positioning personnel and equipment to lessen danegrs to the public on Tuesday. To those who must get out on the roads, please proceed with extra caution.
