The Steuben County Commissioners in cooperation with the Sheriff, Steuben County Highway and the Steuben County Emergency Management have extended emergency Snow WARNING for Steuben County. The WARNING will be in effect until 6:00 P.M. Sunday January 26th 2014. Conditions will be monitored prior to the expiration and the WARNING will either be lifted or extended at that time. Outlying areas are still impassable and one lane in certain locations. Wind speeds are beginning to pick up as well as drifting snow. Regular media outlets plus the Sheriff Facebook page, www.steubensheriff.com and Nixle text alerts will be used to alert everyone of any updates.

The NWS report advises that snow should be winding down shortly across Steuben county. Winds will start picking up around 2pm-ish with gusts as high as 30-35 mph by late afternoon. These strong winds will continue into the overnight hours. Another burst of snow (around 1") is possible as the front moves through, around midnight. Temperatures will drop into the single digits tonight with wind chills near -25 by Monday morning.
