Poor conditions have led to multiple crashes, including a fatal accident in Marshall County. Please do not travel if you don't have to.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Department and Sheriff Tom Chamberlin would like to encourage everyone in Marshall County to avoid travel, if possible. Poor road conditions have led to many accidents, including a fatal on US 30. County Plows are out clearing roads but winds are causing the roads to quickly drift shut. Wind chills and cold temps will continue to cause conditions to deteriorate into the evening hours. If you do choose to travel, wear multiple layers, make sure your vehicle has a full tank of fuel, let someone know where you are going and check in when you get there and take a cell phone and extra blankets with you. If you do get stuck, call for help immediately. Cold temperatures can cause frostbite and hypothermia very quickly. Check on elderly neighbors and any at risk people. If you are without heat, contact the Marshall County Sheriff's Department for help. Warming centers have been designated and can be opened up.
Instructions:
Avoid travel and call for help if stranded.
