A local man was arrested on felony charges Thursday evening when he was allegedly found sitting outside district court with drugs in his vehicle.
Aaron Troy Wages, 28, who lists an address of 175 Irwin St., was taken into custody shortly before 5 p.m. and charged with possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamines and possession of drug paraphernalia, each punishable by up to six years in prison.
Wages was still being held Friday in lieu of $5,000 bond and is set to appear Jan. 28 in district court.
According to the report, GCSD Deputies Jon Lane and Kevin Haws made contact with Wages who was sitting in a tan 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe in the parking lot at district court and noted he was “acting very nervous.”
When asked for ID, he handed Lane his driver’s license and his hand was shaking, Lane states, and when asked if there was anything he needed to worry about in the car Wages allegedly said, “There might be.”
He then said, “If there was anything it would be in a brown purse on the center floorboard.”
Wages was detained and the purse was recovered and found to contain a small clear baggie with residue, three syringes, one of which was filled with a dark liquid that later tested positive for meth.
Wages was taken into custody without incident on the charges.
