Monday drive-by shooting injures one in Larsen Housing Area

MOSES LAKE, Wash. (20JAN2014) – A 16-year-old received non-life-threatening injuries in what appears to be a targeted drive-by shooting in the Larsen Housing Area late Monday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m. deputies were called to the 1200 block of Arlington Drive. Neighbors reported hearing multiple shots. Deputies also learned the 16-year-old victim was riding his bike on Arlington when he was passed by a white car, believed to be a Kia. The car, occupied by two males, made a u-turn and headed back toward the victim. The passenger in the car opened fire on the victim with a handgun.

The victim rode his bike in between two homes in an attempt to get away from the shooter. The car then stopped, the shooter got out of the car, ran in between the two homes and continued to fire on the victim. The shooter then returned to the car and the car sped away.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the right shoulder and another to the right forearm. His injuries are not life threatening and he was taken by ambulance to Samaritan Hospital.

Investigators believe this was a targeted attack and not random. It is uncertain if this was a gang-related shooting, or if there is any connection to a Saturday night drive-by shooting in the same neighborhood.

Anyone with information about this is asked to call the Grant County Sheriff’s Office at 509-762-1160 or [email protected]. Reference case number 14GS00782. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
