Arrest made in the New Year's Eve Union Bank Robbery

On January 7, 2014 the suspect in this robbery was identified as Daniel Allen Hodges, 38 year old City of Antioch Resident. An arrest warrant was sought and obtained for Hodges by investigating detectives. On January 9, 2014, Daniel Allen Hodges was arrested for this robbery by the San Leandro Police Department. Hodges was extradicted to Santa Clara County and booked for robbery charges at county jail.

Hodges was identified in part with the assistance of the public. The Gilroy Police Department thanks the public for their tremendous assistance with this investigation.

SUSPECT DESCRIPTION: (Photo below), White male, mid 20’s, no facial hair, wearing a black baseball cap with no logo on it, black hooded sweatshirt, black shorts and white tennis shoes.

Details:

[Gilroy, CA] On 12/31/13 at approximately 3:49 pm, the suspect entered the “Union Bank” at 8000 Santa Teresa Blvd. and presented a teller with a note demanding money. The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of money in response to his written demand. The suspect displayed no weapon during this Robbery.

The suspect fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival. Multiple officers arrived to the vicinity of the reported crime scene within minutes and conducted a search for the suspect. Despite their efforts and other investigative techniques, the suspect was not located.

No injuries were reported during this attempted robbery. Gilroy Police Detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
