Deputies arrest Michael A. Cowell, 47, charged with Domestic Battery 3rd after allegedly injuring his wife's hand

A local man was arrested Friday evening for allegedly injuring his wife’s hand during an argument at their residence.
Michael Alan Cowell, 47, of 131 Pleasant Valley Road, was taken into custody at his residence shortly before 5 p.m. and charged with third-degree domestic battery, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail. He was initially held without bond, but had bonded out by Monday and is set to appear Jan. 28 in district court.
According to the report, GCSD Deputy Jeremy Simpson responded to the residence and made contact with Cowell and his wife, 42, who stated he and the victim had been arguing and she had some paperwork in her hand.
Cowell was holding a pool cue and tried to knock the papers out of her hand with the cue and struck her hand, causing a minor injury. Simpson noted redness and swelling to the victim’s hand, but she didn’t require medical attention.
The victim conf irmed Cowell’s statement of what had occurred and Cowell was taken into custody without incident.
