Fatal Traffic Accident involving single vehicle 
On January 11, 2014, at approximately 2:43 am, officers from the Torrance Police Department responded to a major single car traffic collision in the 300 block of Palos Verdes Boulevard.
On arrival, officers discovered that a 2011 Audi R8 traveling southbound on Palos Verdes Boulevard collided with the west curb for an unknown reason, causing it to leave the roadway and come to rest on its side against an embankment. The driver, a 50-year-old male resident of Rolling Hills Estates, and sole occupant of the vehicle was extricated from the vehicle by Torrance Fire Department Personnel at the scene, but had succumbed to his injuries. The name of the motorist is being withheld pending notification to a next of kin.
The number two southbound lane of Palos Verdes Boulevard was closed for approximately four hours for the collision investigation.
This collision is being investigated by the Torrance Police Department’s Traffic Division under the command of Captain Bernard Anderson, Commander of the Special Operations Bureau.
