A Dermott woman was arrested on multiple charges early Friday after going on an alleged drunken rampage, attacking a local woman, driving her car through another woman’s fence and then screaming at Garland County sheriff ’s deputies for more than an hour.
Quinisha Janay Bailey, 25, was taken into custody around 1 a.m. in the 600 block of Whittington Avenue and eventually charged with misdemeanor counts of third-degree battery, punishable by up to one year in jail, and second-degree criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
Bailey was being held in lieu of $2,750 bond and is set to appear Jan. 21 in Garland County District Court.
According to the affidavit, around 12:15 a.m., GCSD Deputy Elwood McConnell was dispatched to a disturbance at 402 Skyview Terrace and while en route was told Hot Springs police had stopped a white Saturn on Whittington occupied by suspects reportedly involved.
McConnell learned from dispatchers the Saturn had reportedly run over a fence at 408 Skyview and wouldn’t stop for the fence’s owner. The driver was identified as Bailey, and her passenger was identified as David James, 19, and it was noted there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and empty gin bottles inside.
James reportedly admitted he had smoked some marijuana throughout the day and had been drinking, but Bailey stated she had not been drinking or smoking “in a while.”
McConnell went to 420 Skyview and spoke to the female victim, 26, who had called and a male witness, 26, also of Hot Springs. She stated Bailey and James had come to her residence demanding money and Bailey attacked the victim, striking her several times in the head.
They went outside and were screaming and then the two suspects got into their vehicle, backed over a fence, went into a ditch and then finally left the scene.
While talking to them, the neighbor, 44, from 408 Skyview, came over and stated she had heard the screaming and then saw the suspects back over her fence. She tried to stop them but they ignored her and left.
The victim declined medical treatment from LifeNet and noted she would take herself to the hospital later.
McConnell noted she had a bruise and a swelling knot on the right side of her forehead and she stated she had a couple of bumps to the back of her head.
McConnell took Bailey and James into custody and while taking them to the detention center they were both screaming and cursing at the deputy, calling him racist and a “white cracker b- - - - .” Once at the jail, they continued cursing and saying “everyone was racist.”
James was cited for public intoxication and disorderly conduct due to a strong odor of intoxicants coming from his breath, red, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and his refusal to comply with orders.
A supplemental report from the jail alleges Bailey continued to be disruptive, screaming and cursing, and resisting efforts to complete the booking process. She was finally put into a holding cell where she continued to make threats, curse and kick the door for more than an hour.
