Detectives Billie Brown and Paul Alkire of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Chadwick Allen Bean, 38, of N.C. 126 in Nebo, with two felony counts each of breaking and entering, larceny and obtaining property by false pretense.
Brown said Bean allegedly broke into the home of Steven Ray Adams, of Lake James Road in Nebo, between May 27 and Sept. 1 and stole $20,480 worth of property, including generators, engines, hand and power tools, tool boxes, lawn care equipment, car parts, electronics and household goods, computers, pottery and many other items.
Alkire said Bean also allegedly broke into a residence on Wildlife Road in Nebo. Joyce Poplin reported that the break-in occurred between Dec. 17 and 27 and that $5,310 worth of items was missing, including gardening and lawn care equipment, appliances, antique furniture and tools, a wedding dress, barbed wire, aluminum cans and Christmas decorations.
Both investigators added that Bean allegedly sold some of the stolen goods to local scrap yards.
