Citizen tip leads deputies to stolen property and suspect

MOSES LAKE, Wash. (10JAN2013) -- A citizen’s tip led Grant County Deputies to a burglary suspect and the recovery of property stolen during recent Grant and Lincoln county burglaries.

Deputies on Jan. 7 got a tip Matthew Lowe was driving around near Roads N.4-Northeast and 10-Northeast. Deputies know Lowe and that he had warrants for his arrest. Deputies saw Lowe driving in the area and he fled, eventually ditching his vehicle and running inside a nearby travel trailer where he was living. Deputies found Lowe inside the trailer and arrested him for the outstanding warrants and for probable cause of a Lincoln County burglary.

Deputies then followed up on information about where the possible stolen property may have been stored. They went to property near Road M.2-Northeast and 10-Northeast. While at the property, which belongs to Floyd Best, deputies saw many pieces of alleged stolen property including a stolen car, utility trailer and large air compressor from a Lincoln County burglary. Lincoln County Deputies responded to the scene, search warrants were served and the property recovered along with other property suspected to be stolen.

Lowe is lodged in the Grant County Jail for the outstanding warrants. More charges are likely.

“This was a great case and I want to thank Lincoln County Sheriff Wade Magers and his deputies for the opportunity for us to help them,” said Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones. “We’re always happy to team with other agencies to stop crime.”

The investigation continues. Anyone with information should contact the Grant County Sheriff’s Office at 509-754-2011 ext. 468, email [email protected], or contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 509-725-3501. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
