A traffic stop on a vehicle that was driving erratic and ran a stop sign led to the arrest of a female passenger on felony drug charges Sunday afternoon.
Lisa Keiko Tegman, 49, who lists an address of 208 Janette St., was taken into custody shortly before 12:30 p.m. and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, all felonies punishable by up to six years in prison.
Tegman, who lists no prior criminal history, remained in custody Monday in lieu of $7,500 bond and is set to appear Jan. 21 in Garland County District Court.
According to the report, Garland County sheriff’s Cpl. Felix Hunter was on patrol in the 100 block of Fleetwood Drive when he saw a blue Chevrolet Caprice turn off Fleetwood onto Parkland Drive, driving on the wrong side of the road.
He got behind the vehicle and watched as the driver ran a stop sign at Parkland and Thornton Ferry Road. He continued following it to Bayside Road and Keith Drive, where he made a traffic stop.
Both the male driver and the front-seat passenger, identified as Tegman, had suspended driver’s licenses, so he asked both of them to step out. Hunter started talking to Tegman and asked her when was the last time she used methamphetamines.
She reportedly admitted to using meth the night before, and when asked if she had any more in her possession, she allegedly admitted she did and pulled out four baggies with powdered substance in them.
As Hunter was examining the baggies, which were found to contain approximately 2 grams of what later tested positive for meth, he noted Tegman attempted to hide a glasses case in the front of her jeans.
When asked about the case, she pulled it out and it was found to contain a loaded syringe, a spoon, straw and used needle.
The driver reportedly didn’t have anything illegal in his possession and nothing else was found in the vehicle. Tegman was taken into custody and during a further search at the detention center 14 pills, later determined to be morphine, were found in her purse.
