State of Emergency declared. Only essential travel/emergency srvcs should be on the roads. FH Boro offices closed Fri

Stay home and stay off the roads unless you are an emergency services employee. State of emergency declared.
The Governor declares a State of Emergency when he believes a disaster has occurred or may be imminent that is severe enough to require state aid to supplement local resources in preventing or alleviating damages, loss, hardship or suffering. This declaration authorizes the Governor to speed State agency assistance to communities in need. It enables him to make resources immediately available to rescue, evacuate, shelter, provide essential commodities (i.e., heating fuel, food, etc.) and quell disturbances in affected localities. It enables him to coordinate local resources and assets to best protect the health, welfare and safety of the entire State.

The Governor has authorized a number of actions to be taken, if needed:

S This order authorizes the Attorney General and the Superintendent of State Police to restrict traffic and citizen movements or activities. The state may limit access to affected areas due to concerns for public safety but will notify the public of these restrictions. At this time, no traffic will be restricted on New Jersey roadways. This may be subject to change as deteriorating conditions may warrant.

S This order authorizes the State Director of Emergency Management to order evacuations. At this time, no evacuations have been ordered.

S All persons and governmental entities are required by law to comply with this order and the orders issued by the State Office of Emergency Management.

S State Statute requires that no entity provide mutual aid to any non-contiguous jurisdiction or any jurisdiction outside the State of New Jersey without the authorization of the County Emergency Management Coordinator.

S This Order itself does not close State offices but the Governor has made a determination to close them on January 3, 2104. Essential state employees are to report to work as scheduled.

S Please keep in mind that utility workers will be part of the response to the aftermath of this storm and their travel should not be unnecessarily restricted.

Should any restrictions, evacuations or other orders be issued, they will be sent upon receipt.
