Pair apprehended after allegedly breaking into vacant home and stealing plow and scrap metal
Lt. Chris Taylor of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 36-year-old Eric Eugene Houck, of Oakdale Estates in Old Fort, and 35-year-old Gary Wayne Patterson Jr., of Pinnacle Church Road in Nebo, with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny and felony possession of stolen goods.
Patterson was also issued a citation for driving while license revoked, and Houck was served with an outstanding warrant from Burke County.
On Saturday, Dec. 28, shortly after 7 a.m., Deputy Jason Cook responded to a vacant residence on Linville Road owned by Kaye Marie Lewis, of Troy, in reference to a breaking and entering in progress.
The suspects left the residence before the officer arrived, but Deputy Jack Gouge spotted their vehicle, a red Chevrolet Blazer, on N.C. 126 and stopped the SUV.
In the Blazer, deputies found a plow and buckets of scrap metal reported stolen from the Linville Road residence.
