Fatal traffic collision involving a motorcycle
On December 29, 2013, at approximately 12:44 p.m., officers from the Torrance Police Department responded to a major injury traffic collision involving a motorcycle and passenger vehicle in the 5900 block of Pacific Coast Highway in the City of Torrance.
On arrival, officers discovered that a Harley Davidson motorcycle, ridden by a 38-year-old male from Torrance, traveling southbound on Pacific Coast Highway had collided with 2014 Lexus, which had just entered onto Pacific Coast Highway from a private driveway.
The motorcyclist, who sustained major injuries was treated by Torrance Fire Department personnel at the scene and transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The name of the motorcyclist is being withheld pending notification to a next of kin.
The sole occupant of the Lexus, a 78-year-old female, was not injured in the collision.
Pacific Coast Highway was closed in both directions between Vista Del Parque and Prospect Avenue for approximately two-and-a-half hours during the collision investigation.
This collision is being investigated by the Torrance Police Department’s Traffic Division under the command of Captain Bernard Anderson, Commander of the Special Operations Bureau.
