Shortly after 9:00 PM on Monday, December 23, 2013, a male victim was assaulted during a carjacking near a local convenience store in Pico Rivera. The victim was hit over the head with a blunt object. He temporarily lost consciousness. When the victim regained consciousness, he realized his keys, wallet and vehicle (2012 Jeep Patriot SUV) had been stolen.

The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle. the vehicle sped off and the deputy went in pursuit of the stolen vehicle. Deputies stopped the pursuit when the suspect’s speed became unsafe for deputies to follow him.

The Sheriff’s copter crew directed Compton Sheriff’s deputies to the location of the vehicle when they noticed the vehicle slowing down. Deputies followed the stolen vehicle until it came to a stop, possibly due to mechanical problems.
