Icing conditions are expected to become more difficult this evening and overnight. Please stay off highways if possible

Temperatures are expected to get colder rather quickly late today and tonight with the freezing line expanding into the southern Champlain Valley and portions of NE VT. This will expand the area of freezing rain and accumulating ICE.

Temperatures will moderate above freezing Sunday, but not likely for the hardest impact regions.

Impacts - NUMEROUS TO WIDESPREAD Power Outages in hardest hit locations (0.5-1+ inch ice accumulations) are likely. Isolated to scattered in areas with less ice.

Please remember some basic safety measures:

* Stay OFF roads, unless absolutely necessary.
* Generators are to be used ONLY outside.
* DO NOT USE "impromptu" sources for heat
* STAY AWAY from downed powerlines and call local first responders of these lines.
