A local man was arrested early Sunday after allegedly attacking his live-in girlfriend, smashing her head into a wall.
William Dean Prault, 45, of 109 Lakesouth Bay, was taken into custody at his residence shortly after 1 a.m. and charged with third-degree domestic battery, a felony punishable by up to one year in jail. He was still being held without bond Monday and is set to appear Jan. 7 in district court.
According to the affidavit, GCSD Deputy Clayton Green responded to the residence to a report of a female needing help and made contact with the victim, 32, at the front door of the house and she told him she was afraid of the suspect, identified as Prault, whom she lived with.
She stated the two of them had been drinking at an area pool hall earlier and got into an argument.
After they returned home, the argument continued and then she states Prault “got more upset” and grabbed her by the neck and started “banging her head against the wall.”
She told Green the suspect had done this in the past, but she never reported it before. Green noted there was a large hole in the bedroom wall and the victim had scratches on her neck and swelling above her right eye.
He located Prault who told him the victim had tried to attack him and all he did was push her away. It was noted Prault had no visible injuries. He was taken into custody without further incident.
