On Thursday, December 12, 2013, a detective from the Lomita Sheriff’s Station was at a homeless encampment in the 600 block of Indian Peak Road, Rolling Hills Estates, conducting a follow-up investigation regarding a burglary. While there, he discovered property which appeared to be abandoned. While examining the property to determine ownership, the detective discovered what appeared to be child pornography within several items amongst the property. Later that same day a male (Suspect Andres Torres M/H 47) arrived at Lomita Station and identified himself as the owner of the property recovered from the homeless encampment. Mr. Torres was immediately arrested for possession of child pornography. Upon questioning by detectives Mr. Torres admitted to knowing the child pornography was among his possessions. The case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on December 16, 2013, where one count of Possession of Child Pornography was filed. If convicted Mr. Torres faces up to three years in State Prison and would be required to register as a sex offender. Mr. Torres is currently incarcerated in the Los Angeles County Jail with a bail amount set at $20,000.
