Local Gibson County Law Enforcement agencies come together and step up patrols to battle Impaired driving and monitor seatbelt usage.

The Gibson County Traffic Safety Partnership, an organization comprised of the Princeton Police Department, Gibson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oakland City Police Department participated in the Safe Family Travels traffic blitz November 8th thru December 1st. The organization’s goal was to monitor impaired driving and seatbelt usage. During this blitz six officers put in 44.5 hours of overtime that was paid by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute. Officers were able to write 77 citations for different offenses, and give 13 warnings. Also during this increased patrol event two arrests were made.

On December 1, 2013 Domink Lavelle Major age 23 of Coldwater, MS was arrested for Auto Theft by Princeton Officer John Dyer. Officer Dyer stopped Mr. Major for disregarding an automated signal. Mr. Major has since posted a $1500 bond.

On November 25, 2013, Sgt. Jay Riley of the Princeton Police Department stopped Briar J Flaharty age 18 of Mt. Carmel for Reckless Driving. Mr. Flaharty has since posted an $1100 bond.
