HIGH WIND WARNING NOW UNTIL 5 PM MST WEDNESDAY & COLDEST AIR OF SEASON HEADED FOR NM IN UPCOMING MULTIDAY BOUT WITH WINTER WEATHER

* LOCATION...THE HIGHER TERRAIN ALONG AND NEAR THE CENTRAL MOUNTAIN CHAIN OF NEW MEXICO...INCLUDING THE SANDIA AND MANZANO MOUNTAINS AS WELL AS THE CENTRAL HIGHLANDS.

* WINDS...PERIODS OF SUSTAINED WEST SOUTHWEST WINDS AT 25 TO 40 MPH WITH OCCASIONAL GUSTS NEAR 60 MPH.

* TIMING...WINDS WILL CONTINUE TO STRENGTHEN OVER THE RIDGE TOPS THROUGH THE MORNING. WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO SPREAD TO ADJACENT HIGHLANDS BY EARLY THIS AFTERNOON. WINDS MAY PERSIST ACROSS THE HIGH PEAKS THROUGH TONIGHT AND INTO WEDNESDAY.

* VISIBILITY...WIDESPREAD VISIBILITY REDUCTIONS ARE NOT EXPECTED.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...STRONG CROSS WINDS ON NORTH TO SOUTH ORIENTED ROADS CAN BE EXPECTED INCLUDING INTERSTATE 25 FROM GLORIETA PASS NORTHWARD THROUGH THE RATON PASS. IN ADDITION DAMAGE TO TREES UTILITY POLES AND ROOF TOPS MAY OCCUR FROM ANY SEVERE GUSTS.

* ADDITIONALLY: A DOUBLE BARRELED ROUND OF CANADIAN COLD WILL DIVE SOUTH INTO NEW MEXICO FROM MIDWEEK ONWARD SETTING UP CHILLY AND WINTER LIKE WEATHER THROUGH THE REST OF THE WORK WEEK, INTO THE WEEKEND AND INTO THE FIRST OF NEXT WEEK.
