Domestic violence arrest leads to illegal marijuana growing operation.

Quincy, Wash (01DEC2013): Grant County's Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team and deputies from Grant County Sheriff's Office arrested a man for domestic violence and operation of an illegal marijuana growing operation after it was discovered that the residence contained quantities of marijuana in considerable excess of the valid medical marijuana documentation provided.

Lorenzo R. Barajas, age 30 of Quincy, was arrested for suspicion of fourth-degree assault/domestic violence, suspicion of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, and manufacture of marijuana.

Deputies went to the home in the 800 block of Road H-Northwest around 4 p.m. Nov. 30 to investigate a complaint of domestic violence. While at the scene, Deputies saw in plain view several Mason jars of what appeared to be marijuana. INET detectives were called, served a search warrant on the property and vehicles at the home, and ended up finding 89 separate jars or containers of marijuana. The combined weight of the harvested marijuana neared 17 pounds with a street value of about $13,500. INET also seized 60 rooted marijuana plants.

Sheriff Tom Jones said, "What was found here went far above and beyond the permitted medical and recreational possession limits in the State of Washington. The work of our INET and Grant County Deputies is persistently paying off by getting these illegal growing operations out of our communities."
