A local man was arrested early Wednesday after allegedly trespassing at his ex-wife’s house and then fleeing from Garland County sheriff’s deputies.
Nathan Zatrell Ellis, 32, who lists an address of 110 Cindy St., was taken into custody shortly after 3 a.m. and charged with misdemeanor counts of fleeing and first-degree criminal mischief, each punishable by up to one year in jail, and criminal trespass, punishable by up to 90 days in jail.
He was later released on $2,500 bond and is set to appear Dec. 10 in Garland County District Court.
According to the affidavit, shortly before 3 a.m., GCSD Sgt. Roy Williams and Deputy Elwood McConnell were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Black Bear Lane to investigate a black male standing in the bedroom doorway of a woman’s home.
Upon arrival, dispatch informed them the victim, 29, had indicated the suspect was her ex-husband, identified as Ellis. As the deputies exited their vehicles, they saw a silver SUV type vehicle leaving the scene.
McConnell said they yelled at the driver, waved their lit flashlights and told him repeatedly to stop.
The suspect “just looked at us” and continued driving, he states, so while Williams went to check on the victim McConnell pursued the vehicle in his unit with lights activated.
The SUV turned onto Millcreek Road and then proceeded to Kelton Road and onto East Grand, proceeding to the Highway 70 east bypass heading inbound.
The driver, identified as Ellis, finally pulled over in the 1700 block of East Grand after a pursuit of about 1.2 miles and McConnell used his loudspeaker to order him to put his hands out the driver’s side window.
Williams arrived to assist and they took Ellis into custody without further incident. Ellis had a warrant and was issued citations for two traffic violations in addition to the other charges.
The victim stated the suspect had trespassed in her home and had caused about $120 in damages to a rear door to make entry. No one was injured in the incident.
