Counterfeit Money Alert
Two businesses in Brighton discovered fake $20 bills had been used for purchases. The bills were high quality photocopies on heavy paper that made the bills feel quite real. Several clues tipped off the businesses when the bills were later examined more closely:
1. Some thin areas along the edges of the paper were white
2. Held up to the light, there was no security thread
3. Serial numbers were the same on two bills
4. Finally, a security pen swiped on the paper turned a dark color (pens available at any office supply)
