A local woman was arrested on misdemeanor charges after allegedly causing a disturbance during a traffic stop early Monday.
Amanda Jean Puckett, 48, who lists an address of 211 Nickens St., was taken into custody shortly before 2 a.m. and charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct, each punishable by up to 30 days in jail or a $100 fine.
She remained in custody Monday afternoon in lieu of $1,000 bond and is set to appear Dec. 3 in district court.
According to reports, shortly after 1:30 a.m., Green was northbound on Mountain Pine Road when he got behind a red Ford Ranger and noticed the driver was swerving and driving very slow.
He stopped the vehicle at the intersection with Mid-America Boulevard and made contact with the female driver, 62, and asked her about the way she was driving.
She stated it was because of her passenger, identified as Puckett, who kept trying to get out of the vehicle. She stated she was trying to take her to the Quapaw House for drug treatment because she needed help.
Green recognized Puckett from previous dealings and noted she was “bouncing up and down in the seat” and yelling profanities. He told her to calm down, but she refused so he made her get out.
He noted she continued yelling and cursing and was “clearly under the influence of some type of drug” but when asked she denied it. She continued to yell so he took her into custody.
