PGPD Investigates Attempted Child Abduction.

Detectives to Revisit Neighborhood Saturday

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating the attempted abduction of a 12-year-old child in Capitol Heights.

On November 15, 2013, at about 5:15 pm, patrol officers were called to the 200 block of Cabin Branch Road for an attempted abduction. The victim told the officers that a man had just walked up to him in the 6500 block of Wilburn Drive. The suspect asked the child if he wanted any candy that he had in his van. When the child tried to walk away, the man grabbed him by the jacket. The victim was able to free himself and began running down Cabin Branch Drive towards Central Avenue. The child ran to Central High School where he called police.

Detectives and patrol units are currently canvassing the neighborhood, talking to neighbors and any potential witnesses. The detectives will be back out in the community on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at 3:00 pm.

The suspect is described as a middle-aged black male, 6'0" tall with a skinny build and balding hair. He was wearing a black leather jacket, blue jeans and black boots. He was driving a black mini-van.
