Lieutenant charges Rutherford County man after he allegedly tried to swallow methamphetamine 
Lt. Chris Taylor of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Roger Steve Rumfelt, 35, of Adylotte Drive in Rutherfordton, with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
In February, N.C. Highway Patrol troopers stopped Rumfelt’s vehicle on U.S. 221 South at Interstate 40 because he was driving while license revoked.
Taylor said Rumfelt allegedly tried to swallow a gram of methamphetamine that he had in his possession.
The suspect was located and charged last week.
