Barre - Area of School st (N) and Washburn Rd - Ongoing Investigation from October 31st

ALERT: On Thursday October 31st, shortly before Trick-or-Treat began, we received a report of a breaking & entering at a home on School Street (N). Chief Demetropoulos, Officer Sabourin & Officer Recos responded. During their investigation, it appeared that suspects may have forcibly entered the home but were later confronted by the homeowner upon his arrival. The homeowner was not able to ID any of the suspects & was involved in an altercation with them; he believed there were 2 men in his home. He was transported to UMASS Medical Center. The family car was stolen from the home, but was found off of Washburn Road. Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Division & Forensic Services Group was contacted & conducted a great & thorough job! We thank the alert residents who have assisted so far but urge anyone else to contact us if they might have any new information; especially if you happened to see anyone/anything suspicious on School Street (N) or Washburn Road between 1PM-4PM Thursday October 31st.

This is an active investigation & we will not be able to give out any more specifics about the case. The purpose of this post is to ALERT our residents of the criminal act & to ASK them for any assistance they may provide.
