A Pearcy man was arrested Monday afternoon for allegedly assaulting his ex-wife at her residence in Jessieville.
Thomas Eugene Johnson, 61, who lists an address of 1698 N. Pearcy Road, was taken into custody shortly before 4 p.m. and charged with 3rd degree domestic battery, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail or a $1,000 fine.
He was still being held without bond Tuesday and is set to appear Nov. 19 in Garland County Circuit Court.
According to reports, Garland County sheriff ’s Deputy Zachary Shaffer was dispatched to a residence on Wyles Lane in Jessieville regarding a battery and upon arrival spoke to the victim, 65, who stated her ex-husband, identified as Johnson, had just attacked her.
She said Johnson entered her residence and pinned her down on the bed, grabbing and bruising her left arm in the process. Then he hit her several times on the chest, she states, noting she recently had heart surgery.
A female witness, 31, who also lives at the victim’s residence, reportedly confirmed the victim’s statement of events, noting she was in the kitchen and “saw the whole thing.”
The victim reportedly declined any medical treatment and Johnson was located a few minutes later at a neighboring residence and taken into custody without incident.
The report notes the victim also claimed $200 was missing, but the money was not found on Johnson at the time of his arrest.
