Child safety is of high importance to everyone. Recent studies show that over 90% of child seats are incorrectly installed. It is the goal of the Newark Police Department to keep every child safe and has certified car seat technicians to ensure that it is installed in the safest way possible

Child seat inspections are for residents of Newark only and are free by making an appointment.
To request a free child seat inspection please call the Special Assistant Bruce Howcroft of the Newark Police Department (510) 578-4971 or e-mail [email protected] with the following information: name, street address, e-mail address, and telephone number. Please provide the age, height, and weight of the child along with the make and model of your vehicle including the make and model of the child seat.
