The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the DEA Drug Take Back event, Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. at the Wonder Lake Fire Protection District, 4300 E. Wonder Lake Road, Wonder Lake, Illinois. The Sheriff’s Office location in Wonder Lake will be just one of the many sites taking place in McHenry County.
The purpose of this DEA sponsored event is to give the community an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your medications for disposal to a location distribution event or visit Sheriff’s Office representatives at the Wonder Lake Fire Protection District. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
After Saturday’s collection day, participating law enforcement agencies turn the collected drugs over to DEA for safe disposal. “DEA’s take back event gives our community an opportunity to safely dispose of prescription drugs keeping them out the hands and ground that they are harmful for,” stated Undersheriff Andrew Zinke. “We encourage residents to participate at a drop off location nearest you.”
