TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Motorists are cautioned about smoke drifting over the roadway for the next few days near Paxson Drive and Valley Road in Moses Lake.
A fire in a pile of wood shavings at the Grant County Fairgrounds is causing smoky conditions and will burn for the next few days.
Firefighters are on the scene and have created a fireline around the pile. The fire is completely contained and poses no threat to others.
This type of fire is difficult to extinguish because the fire burns deeply in the pile, much like a hay bale fire. The decision has been made to allow the fire to burn itself out, which will likely take several days.
