Advisory

US Postal Worker struck by Hit and Run driver while delivering mail.

On October 19, 2013 at 12:15pm while a U.S. Postal Service Employee was delivering mail in the City of Compton, she was struck by a hit and run driver. The mail delivery vehicle was traveling southbound on Santa Fe Avenue, South of Euclid Street in the City of Compton when a Blue, BMW 325I/328I, 1995-2000, collided with the rear bumper of the delivery truck while attempting to pass it. The postal truck lost control, swerved east onto the northbound lanes and then west, colliding with parked vehicles along the west curb line on Santa Fe Avenue.

The impact ejected the Postal Employee from the postal truck. She landed in between the parked vehicles. She was rescued by Compton Fire Paramedics and transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries. She’s listed in serious condition with internal injuries and injuries to her left arm and left leg.

The driver of the blue BMW never made an attempt to stop and render aid, instead continued driving S/B on Santa Fe Avenue and out of view.
