Marina del Rey Sheriff’s rescue 2 last night after boat capsizes.

Deputies Eric Felis and David Scheinfarb responded to a “Mayday” call off Marina del Rey last night at approximately 1925 hours on Sheriff’s Patrol Boat “Edgington”. They discovered a 25’ fishing boat had been thrown onto the detached rock breakwater by heavy 6’ to 8’seas with two people onboard. While attempting to tow the boat free from the rocks, a large wave capsized the vessel, throwing its two occupants into the sea. The deputies were able to maneuver their patrol boat close to the rocks and quickly rescue both men by pulling them safely onboard. The victims were transported to Marina del Rey Station, where they were examined by Los Angeles County Fire Engine 110, and released with no injuries. Their fishing boat was a total loss.
