KENNEWICK MAN DIES MONDAY IN TRACTOR TRAILER CRASH NEAR MOSES LAKE ||
MOSES LAKE, Wash. (08OCT2013) -- A 37-year-old Kennewick man was killed outright Monday afternoon in a tractor-trailer versus tractor-trailer collision southeast of Moses Lake.
Robert Valdez, 37, was driving a 1993 Peterbilt loaded with potatoes westbound on Road 2 Southeast. Dalgit Singh, 47 of Fresno, California, was driving a 2012 Freightliner southbound on Road O Southeast. Singh failed to stop at the stop sign at Road 2 Southeast, and Valdez t-boned the trailer behind the Freightliner. The impact tore the cab off the Peterbilt. Valdez was ejected and died at the scene. The trailer was ripped from the Freightliner and went off the southwest corner of the intersection. The Peterbilt spun out of control and rolled one-half time spilling the load of potatoes.
Singh’s trailer and Valdez’s Peterbilt were a total loss. Singh’s Freightliner tractor was not damaged. Alcohol and drugs are not a factor in the collision. The collision is still under investigation by the Grant County Motor Traffic Unit. Singh will be mailed a ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign.
