NEWARK OFFERS FREE INFLUENZA VACCINE FOR RESIDENTS AT SITES ACROSS CITY THROUGH OCTOBER 23.

City of Newark is providing free influenza vaccinations, now through Wednesday, October 23, at sites around the City. Newark residents seeking flu shots must present proof of residency at the sites, which can be personal identification or a utility bill with their name and address on it.

“I urge all Newark residents, especially those who suffer from chronic medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, lung or heart disease, to protect themselves by utilizing these free vaccinations. By being proactive, we can prevent the spread of the flu virus and stay healthier as a community,” said Mayor Booker. “Protect yourself and protect your loved ones. Get your flu shot today.”

The 2013 Seasonal Influenza Vaccination Program is provided by the Department of Child and Family Well-Being.

“Let’s keep Newark healthy and avoid absenteeism at school and on the job. Keeping our children in the classroom and maintaining a productive workforce is essential to the continued growth and future success of our City’s economy,” said Director Williamson. “Expectant mothers are especially urged to get their flu vaccine as influenza poses a serious health risk during pregnancy.”
