Scam artists are calling people and stating that they are with the Clerk of Courts of Vinton County and telling the people that their Drivers Licenses are suspended and asking for their License Numbers. Do not give any information out over the phone. Pay attention to the caller, if the person has trouble speaking English, they will not be calling from a Vinton County Office. This is in no way to degrade people from other nations. Tell the caller that you will call them back on the number that came up on your caller ID and then hang up. Call the number and ask if anyone called. A legitimate business in Vinton County will not be offended by this. Also, if you are on a home phone, dial #57 immediately after the call and it will be traced. These scam artists are using spoof apps that allow you to change the number that comes across your caller ID.
