Indianapolis – Funeral arrangements s for Officer Timothy (Tim) Day have been confirmed and are as follows:

Friday October 4th, 2013 … viewing 12 pm to 8pm – IMPD Flag Presentation will begin at 2:00pm
Saturday October 5th, 2013 …10am to 12pm funeral services will begin at 12pm
All services will be conducted at Grace Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1501 N. College Ave.

Officer Day will be honored with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s (IMPD) “Type B” funeral reserved for Officers killed or otherwise deceased while on active duty, but not in the line-of-duty. Type B funeral will include, but not limited to, IMPD’s Chief’s Honor Guard, Flag Detail, Mounted Unit, and a Motorcycle Escort.

Officer Day was a 26-year veteran of the Indianapolis Police Department (IPD)/Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department joining the Indianapolis Police Department December 8, 1986. Officer Day spent his entire career at the rank of Patrol Officer serving the Indianapolis community on the West, North, and Northwest sides of town. In 2001 Officer Day was detailed to the West District Narcotics Unit where he made a difference in the Haughville and Riverside communities for four extraordinary years. In 2008 Officer Day was assigned to the Violent Crimes Unit where he remained until his untimely death.

Officer Day received several letters of accomplishments/commendations from some past IPD Chiefs of Police such as, James D. Toler and Michael Zunk, Deputy Chiefs Tim Horty and current IMPD Major of Operations Tom Kern, Deputy Chief of Operations Scott Haslar and IMPD Chief Richard Hite. Officer Day was nominated/or received Certificates of Commendation, Honor Awards Certificate of Commendation, Unit Citations for the participation in the Violent Crimes Unit, Neighborhood Resource Officers, and West District Narcotics.
